As parents, you have questions.

We hear you.

That is why we have created an array of services just for you.

Parenting is hard. Period. It’s especially challenging if you have a child with low Executive Functioning who has ADHD, mental health issues, or learning differences. Far too often the focus is solely on your child and doesn’t cater to the dynamics you experience at home as a family. You just want them to do their work without you having to pester them. It seems like they don’t care, or care too much, and either way they aren’t doing what they need to. So what you can you do when you already have done so much? This question is why we offer our Parent Consultations.

It can also be hard to navigate education options when it comes to our children. Are they at the right school? Is the 504 plan even worth it? Should they take AP classes if it is already so hard? Will they get into a good college if we alter their curriculum? These are the types of questions we help you answer in our Education Consultations.

Our Consultations are designed to give you the information you need to make parenting a little easier.

Parent Consultations

We hear all the time: why can’t they just do their work? We have tried everything.

So what is going on with them?

It goes beyond just being lazy or defiant. There are deeper issues at play when avoidance becomes self-sabotaging and creates immense tension at home, ruins grades, and seems pervasively problematic. Executive Functioning deficits lead to this type of avoidance, shame, and low academic self-esteem. Our Parent Consultations are geared to help address these exact issues.

What is the Encompass approach?

We utilize our unique methodology Executive Functioning Cognitive Training (EFCT) and combine a Nurtured Heart Approach (NHA). Both Jessica, Encompass’ Founder and Chief EF Specialist and Della, Encompass’ Senior EF Specialist are certified trainers in NHA.

This means that we understand that behavior (engagement & avoidance) is tied to the way we think and feel (shame, embarrassment, self-consciousness) and to reroute the behavior we must be intentional and strategic about our parenting methods and communication strategies.

Ok, so what actually happens in the Initial Parent Consultation?

There are 2 parts to this consultation:

  1. Understanding where your child is coming from: We unpack the differences between comprehension and the demonstration of comprehension, the relationship between EF and CBT, motivation, defensive behavior, the teenage brain, and more.

  2. Actionable steps for you: We unpack how to establish and reinforce expectations, create at home routines, set boundaries with screens, discuss communication tools, and strike the balance between your need to support and facilitating independence.

What happens next?

After your Initial Parent Consultation, you will receive:

  • A summary of both the educational components and the actionable items we discuss.

  • A worksheet to help you implement the expectations, consequences, at home routines, and more.

  • Follow up information (books, websites, resources, etc) that may benefit you and your family.

We then will establish any necessary follow up consultations based on your goals and needs.

How long do we meet for?

The Initial Parent Consultation will last 90 minutes. All subsequent consultations are 30 or 60 minutes depending on your needs.
